The BRITISH FINAL of ONE-ACT PLAYS features the winning plays from each of the four home countries competing for the Howard de Walden Trophy. The Drama Association of Wales are absolutely delighted to be hosting this prestigious event at the Pavilion Theatre in Rhyl and are looking forward to welcoming visitors from Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and, of course, Wales. We want our audiences to go away with a really positive attitude to what Rhyl has to offer and spread the word that the Pavilion and Rhyl are well worth visiting. To that end we need the people of Rhyl and the surrounding area to come along and offer their support to show that Community Theatre is thriving in North Wales.
Our adjudicator for the event is David Price who hails from Builth Wells. David is a member of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators (GoDA) and has over forty years experience of community theatre. He is a farmer and County Councillor and was appointed High Sheriff of Powys by HM the Queen for 2018/19. He is a very popular adjudicator and we are sure that the audience will enjoy his comments on each of the competing plays.
On the Friday evening, the winning play from Wales will open the festival followed by Northern Ireland. David will then adjudicate both plays. On the Saturday evening, Scotland will go first and team from England will close the festival. Again, David will adjudicate both plays. There will then be a short interval and the winning team will be announced.
